We are Fish & Forest, an independent restaurant on Grape Lane, York, serving
seasonal and sustainable fish, game and forest foods. Recognised in the Michelin
Guide for our Commitment to Sustainable Gastronomy, we are also listed on
Harden’s and the Good Food Guide as well as AA Rated.

Menus take inspiration from the sea, the forest and the Yorkshire countryside.
Head Chef and owner, Stephen Andrews creates a small, regularly evolving a la
carte menu of simple seasonal plates allow the ingredients to shine. Menus
change weekly, presented on a chalk board by the welcoming, highly
knowledgeable Front of House team.

As a neighbourhood bistro, we offer a genuinely warm welcome and personal
service and top-quality food. Stephen is supported by a young and welcoming
front of house team led by Yohan Barthelemy, who brings his wealth of experience
in hospitality and who curates a well-balanced and diverse wine list.

Scallop Crudo – Fermented Strawberry, Fresh Herb Chilli Dressing, Labneh, Cassis, Strawberry

Bream cooked on a Japanese Konro Grill – Pickled Mussels,
Samphire, Black Salsify, Vadouvan Sauce

Halibut – Grenobloise sauce with capers and pick- led samphire

While the focus is on fish and game, vegetarians and vegans will
also find interesting vegetable-led dishes on the menu and we can
cater for dietary needs.
